Checklist: The right drywall sander for me
When looking for the appropriate device, one is often spoilt for choice. Our checklist helps with the decision making process:
- Frequency of use: Do I need a professional device (e.g. MENZER PRO LINE) or is a device for amateur work at home sufficient, from the MENZER BASE LINE for example?
- Employment: Do I most frequently treat ceilings and walls, for which a Drywall Sander would be ideal, or am I more often confronted with smaller, narrow surfaces?
- Round head or interchangeable head: Am I going to treat many edges and borders, for which a device with interchangeable head would be most appropriate?
- Suction options: Do I already dispose of an Industrial Vacuum Cleaner that I could connect or do I need an integrated suction system with joined dust bag?
Drywall Sanders: Allrounders for walls and ceilings
Flexibility is the greatest advantage of Longneck Sanders, such as MENZER LHS 225 or MENZER LHS 225 PRO. They allow to treat walls as well as ceilings up to 2,50 meters high – without additional ladders or scaffolding. Machines with removable sanding head tips can additionally be used to treat borders. It becomes even easier when the length of the machine is adjustable. The MENZER LHS 225 PRO VARIO for example allows for flexible extension between 1.550 mm and 1.950 mm.
Often Drywall Sanders fail in environments full of nooks and crannies. Here, the Drywall Sander becomes increasingly impractical, so that compact Drywall Sanders are better up to the challenge.

Compact Drywall Sanders: A lightweight for narrow spaces
Machines like the MENZER TBS 225 for amateurs or the MENZER TBS 225 PRO for professional workers turn out to be especially useful in a narrow and hard to reach environment. Wall and Ceiling Sanders with exchangeable sanding heads: Reaching into every corner
Drywall Sanders and compact Drywall Sanders have one weak spot in common. Their round, 225 mm in diameter sanding heads prevent them from reaching into the corners. Here, the drywall constructor used to have to work by hand or using other sanding devices. Drywall Sanders with exchangeable heads like the MENZER TSW 225, available as BASE LINE and PRO LINE, now resolve the problem. The round sanding head can be exchanged by a triangular one. During the sanding process, the device automatically shifts from a rotary motion to a hoisting one in order to cleanly sand borders and edges.
Integrated suction or external suction devices: Removing dust safely
Especially in drywall construction, sanding work comes with the development of fine dust. In order to protect the drywall constructor’s health, this dust should always be removed properly. This is why Wall and Ceiling Sanders usually are equipped with perforated sanding discs and a connection point for Industrial Vacuum Cleaners.
For amateurs, Drywall Sanders with integrated suction present a reasonably priced alternative. Devices like the MENZER TBS 225 or MENZER LHS 225 AV dispose of a turbine above the sanding disc which transports the dust directly into the included dust bag.
